WCS Australia Preliminary Competition

2012 was the fourth year Australia participated in the World Cosplay Summit. The representative team was William & Tsubaki wearing costumes from Neon Genesis Evangelion.


Tsubaki has represented Australia in WCS once before in 2009.

They won the judges over with their self-made costumes, impressive props, entertaining performance, & huge audience reaction.

They also came number one in their Pre-selection round for Sydney, wearing costumes from FuriKuri (FLCL) with William as Naota/Canti & Tsubaki as Haruko.

WCS 2012

This was the 10th Anniversary of WCS.
They brought several costumes to Japan with them & Represented Australia very well.

Tsubaki & William at the Red Carpet Parade in Nagoya, Japan.

They wore Tidus & Yuna from Final Fantasy X for the Parade events walking through the streets of Nagoya, through the Shopping district in Osu, & along the WCS Red carpet.

They also wore Morte & Naja from World Destruction for the Press Events, such as at the Centrair Airport, meeting the Mayor of Nagoya, Ninja theme parks, & many more.

Their finals round was one of the most controversial in WCS history.
They learnt a lot about the ‘Spirit of Cosplay.’
This was the first year for Indonesia, Russia & The United Kingdom joining WCS for the first time, bringing the total countries represented to 22.
This was also the second last year being held at Oasis 21.

Tsubaki & William chose to cosplay from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as Viral/Nia & Lagann/Simon for Finals.
